Okay, Everyone. So I would put this into original pieces, but it was originally inspired by VIXX and my favorite gothic novel ever~<3, so I will call it a fanfic. It is a retelling of the original, with a romantic twist and of course a modern take using the wonderful VIXX. This is the first initial chapter of it.. If anyone likes it, I will keep writing it and continue to post it through motivation. Also keep in mind that the narration style is a bit different. It will be told by the characters as it happened, but not as it is happening. It will be told as a story, or recalling of events of sorts ^^ Hope that helps, and that you enjoy ;w;..
“Ah,the life of an idol!.. It’s the best kind of life out there! Just today I ran into this girl and her friend at the coffee shop; they just went crazy when I waved to ‘em~.”
I can hear Hyuk is still running off at the mouth, but I’m only half-listening. If he hadn’t been talking so much for the first half-hour that we had been out exploring the city, then maybe I would care at this point. Now all the blonde baboya keeps talking about are his fangirl encounters.
Its gotten darker outside, and the bright lights that had illuminated every corner of the street had somehow become dull streetlamps every few feet away. The city looked oddly eerie down this street, more like an alley to be honest. The sky is still clear though, as the temperature is still fairly warm enough to walk with without a coat. Soon enough, Hyuk and I reach this stretch of townhouses, which makes sense as to why things are so dull down here. But then there’s this one building not too far off, at the end of the houses, which looks more like an old club. It’s sorta’ outta’ place, but I guess that’s ‘cause this place is still so old itself. I’ve heard this part of Seoul is the only area that hasn’t been touched in like- a hundred years.
“Hey.. Hey.. Hey! Ravi, did you even hear what I said!?”
Hyuk is still rambling, but it isn’t until he gets in front of me and attempts to push me back away from the antique club building, that I decide to actually give him a piece of my attention again.
“Ya, what is it, Babo? What if I’m tired of hearing you speak?”
Hyuk looks at me with this dumb look of false shock, before he crosses his arms, a sly smirk spreading on his face, “Oh no, you’re going to want to hear this one~.”
I sighed, “Aish.. What Hyuk? What is it?”
“You see this building right behind us?” He begins in rising excitement, pointing behind him, “This looks just like the building everyone has been talking about! It’s even on the news man…This has got to be where everything went down!”
My eyebrows came together, from both confusion and the fact that my interest had now been obtained. “Wha’? What are you talking about?”
“You don’t know? How!? Oh my god,” Hyuk groans, sounding like some gossiping school girl. “It was all over the news! Even down at the company, people were talking about it!”
“Then what is it? Aish, if I don’t know, then it’s obvious I don’t watch the news, or eavesdrop on everyone’s conversations. Just tell me already.”
Hyuk takes a step back, looking over to the antique building right behind us for a moment, before he points down the narrow alley that led to the trash bin in the far back of the back parking lot. Trying to make his posture suddenly appear professional, Hyuk uses his best impression of a newscaster; “That very spot Ravi, is where the alleged young girl was viciously beaten by some crazy man with long hair on her way home. She was walking the very same sidewalk we stand on, when she totally bumped into him. They say he was so pissed off that he beat he girl senseless. She supposedly almost died, but the police showed up before any other damage could be done. Eh, though after that, all the details are sketchy. Some say the guy ran off down another street; some say the guy ran into this building after that, and even though there’s only one door, they couldn’t find the guy anywhere. So the only real fact by this point is that the girl was left half-dead on the street.”
I blinked a few times, in disbelief that anyone would do anything that crazy. Yeah, there are criminals doing all kinds of crazy shit, but beating a girl half-dead? For nothing? That’s insane.
“Then the police chased him, but couldn’t catch him?”
“Uh, not quite like that. More like, he ran and they lost him. He either ran off down the street, or ran into this house, but either way he didn’t get caught.”
“So… Where’s the girl now? Who was she?”
“Uh I don’t know. She’s probably in the hospital now though if that story is true.”
“What about that guy?”
“All they know is that he had long hair. Black, I think. The only one who really knows is that girl.”
“Man, that’s crazy. How can they not even have any idea who the guy is?”
Hyuk then begins walking again, though he turns towards the old club instead of walking down the sidewalk. He walks up to the door of the place, giving it a small knock before reaching for the handle.
“Yo, what’re you doing!? Didn’t you say they think the guy went into that house!?”
“Uh- Yeaaah... What about it?”
“They could come back and find your fingerprints all over it!”
Hyuk laughs, “Yeah. Because I’m totally the crazy guy with long black hair. I only want to check this place out. How can a club have only one door? Come on! Someone’s totally hiding something.”
He then opens up the door, slowly at first, a small creak coming from its hinges. Although I thought it was a terrible idea, I was drawn to the place too. I was just as curious as him. Not about the door, but more because of the fact that I was drawn to this crazy guy thing. People just don’t do stuff like that. Not without reason.
The two of us then entered the building, Hyuk going in first with me following hesitantly behind him. The place was darker inside than outside it seemed; though there was this dim light still flickering over to the side somewhere. Hyuk and I both turned to each other for a brief moment, but before I could protest anything against what Hyuk was more than likely going to do, the blonde was already sneaking across the room.
I couldn’t see him at first, but I heard him. He kept hitting himself on something every few seconds with small noises of pain, or surprise coming from him. Only when he reached the dim light did I notice that he was over near a bar counter at this point, and that the light he approached was a lit candle the size of a soft drink can. Hyuk was obviously more than fascinated with something, as he waved his hand to quickly gesture me over, “Hyung, you’ve got to see this! You will not believe this, man…”
I sigh, and make my way over to see what it was that would blow my mind. Yet again, I found myself drawn to whatever it was, even though following after Hyuk was against my better judgment. Making my way over one careful step at a time, my eyes stayed glued on Hyuk’s distant figure and whatever he was staring at. Actually, as I got closer, I noticed that he had been reading.
Then making my way to his side, I squinted my eyes a bit from the candlelight, turning my gaze towards the object in question. Up close, I could see that its rectangular shape was opened to reveal the form of a small book. Giving the book an odd look, I scoffed, “So what is it?”
“Dude, it’s a journal I think..”
“…Of what? Like a diary or something…?”
“Yeah, I think so… This guy talks really weird too,” Hyuk pauses, turning back to the journal to tap his finger on the sentence where it had stopped.
“Here…He says…This only gets harder, I do this, he does that. I don’t want to, and yet I do. Maybe, the best choice at this point is that I leave and never come back,” Hyuk finishes, looking back up at me.
I shake my head, baffled by the words that had been read to me. I do this, he does that. I don’t want to, and yet I do. I keep repeating these words over and over in my head. They don’t make sense. This guy could be crazy, or maybe whatever sick shit he’s done, or is still doing, is because of someone else. I can’t grasp any logic to this guy; perhaps I’m right though. Maybe he is being blackmailed by someone else. It would mean he wasn’t the culprit. Which in that case, this guy could get arrested while the real criminal just finds another victim to do his dirty work. Either way, I have to get a closer look at this journal; maybe I can figure something out. I shove Hyuk out of the way against his protesting, leaning over the journal to read its secrets myself.
That’s when I do discover something.
“Hey! What was tha-…Ravi? You alright? What’s with that face man?”
I hear Hyuk’s words, but they’re not registering. Even as he shakes me, I’m frozen. My mind has to be playing games with me.
“Ravi! Dude! Come on! What’s your issue all of a sudden? I didn’t freeze you with a spell, bro.. At least I hope not.. Still! Come on!”
The blonde’s words are getting desperate, I can hear him. His hands are still on my shoulders, shaking violently.
But he hasn’t figured it out.
He doesn’t know what I do now.
He doesn’t know that I know... that we both know… exactly who wrote this journal entry.
